The Florida Keys Will Open on June 1st, 2020

As you may or may not have heard, the Florida Keys is set to reopen to visitors on June 1st, 2020.

The Florida Keys has been closed to outside residents since March of this year. They have roadblocks in place from the main Highway (US1) and Cardsound road. The only two roads to get into the Florida Keys.

The Monroe County Board of County Commissioners has released, in a facebook message, that the Florida Keys will begin to allow outside visitors and reopen on June 1st, 2020.

They plan to remove both roadblocks and allow for outside guests to commute into the County as well as open up hotels for lodging.

If you or someone you know that was planning on having a wedding but nervous that you may have had to cancel or reschedule your wedding due to the Coronavirus, then this should be some great news.

What this means moving forward?

Moving Forward, we expect that the Florida Keys will still be operating at safe cautions. Just because they are beginning to open, does not mean that Large Weddings, events, or gatherings will be permissible in the near future.

Since the County of Monroe is one of the lowest cases of having known Coronavirus, we expect that the Florida Keys will be booming with Weddings for the 2021 Season!

If you are planning a Destination Wedding in the Florida Keys, We suggest following the recommendations of the CDC and checking with the Governor of Florida to see the current phases that are taking place.

As of right now, we are accepting reservations for small weddings 10 and under for the month of June and July and still waiting anxiously to see how things continue to move forward. We expect to see 50 guests in the August months to over 75 in the Fall however, things to could adjust at any given time.

All hotels will need to coordinate with the County and Government Officials to ensure the property safety precautions. Hotels will need to operate at just 50% capacity. Hotels, campgrounds, vacation rentals and similar businesses will be required to implement sanitation procedures as well.
