Michaela and Tom - 2/13/2021

Is there any time of year more perfect for getting married than around Valentine’s Day? Being the holiday of love – ergo the most romantic day of the year – it is no wonder why it’s one of the busiest times for our beach wedding and elopements.

For Michaela and Tom, they chose the day right before Valentines day for their nuptials at the picture perfect Smathers Beach in Key West.

They chose the Palm Package for an intimate celebration, perfect for the romance of the holiday weekend. Like all good celebrations, there was cake, which Michaela and Tom enjoyed after they had said their I Do’s. It was an adorable little set up for two, and it was a sweet moment.

In keeping with the sweetness of the weekend, their bamboo arbor was adorned with a heart-shaped floral arrangement that matched Michaela’s hydrangea, stolk, and rose bouquet. Both were accented with green monstera leaves, which gives a nice backdrop for the daintier flowers to stand out, and keeps with the tropical feel of a Destination Wedding in the Florida Keys.

We’re sure that Michaela and Tom will enjoy many more Valentine’s weekends together, and we’re happy to have been a part of their big day!

Jacqueline & Cody - 12/20/2020

Jacqueline and Cody tied the knot on the beaches of Key West, Florida this past December of 2020. 12/20/2020 to be exact!

Jacqueline and Cody knew they wanted to get married in Key West from the moment they contacted us. They knew everything you need to know about having a wedding in Key West, FL.

Cody and Jacqueline had several guests come with them to witness this joyous occasion used our Elopement Package that allows for up to 10 guests to come and watch with you.

The Palm Package that Cody and Jacqueline chose, consists of our wedding arbor, arbor flowers, flower bouquet, Wedding cake, champagne, ceremony music for processional and first dance song. Vendors included are also our Officiant and Photographer.

For Processional, Jacqueline chose Dan + Shay, “From the Ground Up” and for their first dance, they chose “Yours” by Russel Dickerson.

For her flower bouquet, Jacqueline worked on created something wild and free with hints of pink in her bouquet.

Ceremony Time started just before Sunset to get the blue sky and sunset all in one wedding.

Jacob & Amy - 12/23/2020

Jacob and Amy got married on December 23rd, 2020 at the beautiful Topsider Resort in Islamorada, FL in the Fabulous Florida Keys.

Amy was such a pleasure to work with during this process of her wedding planning. She wanted to make sure everything was just perfect. She had great questions that were thoroughly answered that helped her make her decision for Jacob and Amy’s wedding.

Amy and Jacob were staying at a beautiful resort, the Topsider Resort, in Islamorada. At first, she was looking at packages at different wedding venues, but opted to choose one of our Ceremony Beach Wedding Packages.

Jacob and Amy chose our Seven Mile Beach Package, which includes a photographer, officiant, flowers, arbor with flowers and linen, ceremony chairs, music, and more!

Amy worked with one of our lead planners, Sabrina, and coordinated everything from bouquets, timeline, colors, and arrangements as well as worked with our officiant for vows and ceremony readings.

Vanessa & Hector - 12/19/2020

Vanessa and Hector got married on December 19th, 2020 at the beautiful Dream Bay Resort in Key Largo, FL in the Florida Keys.

Vanessa searched for quite some time and went back and forth making sure she had the best wedding venue with the best all inclusive package at an affordable price.

After searching for several packages, Vanessa chose to use one of our Ceremony Packages.

Our Flamingo Package was perfect for Vanessa as that package already includes chairs, arbor, officiant and photographer and she also worked with Sabrina, our lead wedding planner and decorator, to make some changes to the package and add additional flowers and decor.

The weather that day was absolutely beautiful and a picture perfect day for a wedding at Dream Bay Resort.

Dream Bay Resort is on our list for one of the most affordable wedding venues in the Florida Keys, and by looking at the property, you would think otherwise.

Over looking the Sailboats at Sunset, Vanessa and Hector said their “I Do’s” in front of their closest family and friends.

Ivette & Andrew - 12/18/2020

Ivette and Andrew got married in Key Largo, FL in the Beautiful Florida Keys on December 18th, 2020.

Ivette and Andrew got married using our High Tide Package that is only $899 and includes our officiant, photographer, flowers, champagne, wedding arbor with flowers and draping, and more!

We chose the Kona Kai Resort and added on nights to stay at the resort for Ivette & Andrew. We love Kona Kai as a great Florida Keys Elopement location as it is a small boutique resort, making it that much more romantic and intimate.

What started off as a pretty windy day, turned out to be gorgeous just before the ceremony.

We would like to congratulate Andrew & Ivette. We wish you both the best of luck!

Jorge & Olga 12/15/2020

Jorge & Olga said their “I Do’s” in Tavernier, FL on December 15th, of 2020.

Jorge and Olga decided to have their wedding on a Wednesday which made it that more intimate since there was nobody around.

Jorge and Olga got married using our Seashell Package, which includes an officiant and a photographer for only $499!

They opted to add on Champagne for 2 to celebrate their love and historic event in their lives.

Everything You Need to Know About Having a Wedding at Smathers Beach

The Florida Keys is one of the most popular locations for Destination Weddings Worldwide and today We are going to talk about a highly demanded location and everything you need to know about having a wedding on Smathers Beach in Key West, FL.

Key West, FL is located at the Southern Most Point in the United States. It’s tropical whether and vibrant night life make this location not only a sought after location, but a beautiful and fun one as well.

According to Wedding Report, there are over 3,500 weddings filed annually in just Key West alone, with an assumption of at least a third of those being done right here on Smathers Beach.

That would mean that there are almost 3 weddings a day, every day, at Smathers Beach for 365 days a year.

And if you have ever visited Smathers Beach, You would know why!

In this article, We are going to go over everything you need to know about having a wedding on Smathers Beach in Key West, FL

Price/Value

In this first topic is about price and the value of that price. Smathers Beach doesn’t have a site fee to host a wedding, so right away, the price is more than affordable and ranks number 2 on our most affordable and beautiful wedding venues in the Florida Keys!

Our Wedding Elopement Packages for Smathers Beach Start at $299 and go up to $1,699 for All Inclusive Ceremony Packages. That price includes photography, Officiant, Flowers, Arbor, etc. With an average price of guests spending around $1,000.

The value that Smathers Brings is hands down the best for what you are getting. Most resorts will charge upwards of $5,000 for the same view, the same sand, and the same atmosphere that you can get at Smathers Beach for Free.

Location

Smathers Beach is located on the North East Side of the Island of Key West. Facing the Atlantic Ocean. Smathers Beach Stretches over a half mile.

This Beach is lined with beautiful Palm Trees and a gorgeous walkway to enter to the beach. The Ocean has a never ending view with soft waves crashing on the shoreline.

On the South Side of the Beach, there is volleyball, paddleboards, and Kayak rentals. The main beach hut that also has bathrooms.

There are numbered stairwells to access the beach, the main stairwells that are best for weddings are usually the Northern Stairwells from 14-10. The farther stairwells seem to have less beach comers, and during ceremony time (usually sunset) there seem to be no guests at all in the area. Which makes this venue have a more private and intimate feeling.

We usually set up on Stairwell 11. Walking up the stairwell to see your significant other standing under the custom bamboo arbor with flowers strewn out is something that never gets old for us.

Convenience/Transportation

Another popular reason that Smathers Beach in Key West is used for weddings, is the convenience that it offers.

Most Transportation companies will be able to pick you up from any location, and drop you right off at the designated stairwell.

You can step out of the vehicle and straight up to your stairwell.

How Many Guests Can I have at Smathers Beach?

Most Weddings that We do at Smathers Beach range from small elopements with just 2 people to around 25 Guests. We have done up to 50 guests at Smathers Beach and the most would be 100. I don’t think I would recommend more than 100 due to parking and space.

If planning a wedding for Smathers Beach, and inviting 100 guests, it would be imperative to make sure that you can arrange transporation.

What's the Vibe like at Smathers Beach?

This is one of the main reasons We love Smathers Beach and Key West in general. The vibe at Smathers is so chill.

Usually when we set up for a wedding, most beach goers will ask about the wedding and what time it starts, etc.. By the time the wedding actually happens, everyone has cleared out. Almost leaving a private and more intimate feeling.

What Time Should the Wedding Start for Smathers Beach?

The Morning and afternoon around sunset is the most common times for weddings.

During earlier in the morning (before 10am) is suggested for morning weddings and during the afternoon right before Sunset is recommended.

The beach is usually pretty occupied from 11am – 4pm. Although we have done several weddings during this time, we don’t recommend unless you are ok with a crowded scene.

Who Gets Married at Smathers Beach?

We have married alot of couples at this beautiful beach location from all different ages, genders, backgrounds, nationalities, etc..

If you are looking for an affordable location in a town with a great atmosphere, blue skies, and turquoise waters, Smathers would be at the top of my list.

Juliette and Jan Carlo - 1/9/2021

Juliette and Jan Carlo got Married at the Islamorada Fish Company in the Florida Keys on January 9th of 2021.

We remember setting up that day thinking that the weather was absolutely perfect! How a planned Destination Wedding in the Florida Keys couldn’t possibly be any better.

Juliette Chose the Islamorada Fish Company because of how effortless wedding planning was. Everything came included with tables, chairs, linens, reception dinner, and a full bar.

Juliette and Jan Carlo only added on special touches with flowers, a driftwood wedding arbor, and table centerpieces.

Jessica & Randy 11/28/2020

Jessica and Randy got married in Marathon, Florida, Known as the Heart of the Keys.

Marathon is known for being the Heart of the Keys since its central location to Key Largo and Key West.

Marathon is known for having some of the best beaches in all of the Florida Keys.

Jessica and Randy decided to have a small group of friends and family to come and join them in their Florida Keys Elopement.

They chose are High Tide Package, which is our most popular package for elopements. It comes with an arbor, photography, arbor, flowers, bouquet, and more!

Jessica paid a little extra to include garden roses in her bouquet and brought her own champagne for a special toast after the ceremony.
